After we lost our Dallas at age 15, it was clear that he was in need of another partner. He wouldn't eat for up to 3 days unless around another dog. We knew where to go- NHS! We introduced Prince to the 2 for 1 duo of Charity and Diego, 2yr old bother and sister combo. It seemed to go well, but there was a slight uncertainty on how the 3 would get along once home. It was hard to tell if it was the fear and strange environments or if there could be issues once they were adopted but you gave us and them the chance we needed.
The new trio did great, but it was clear that just as with adopting Prince, they had a lot of fears that would take time to learn to trust and overcome. It took almost 3 months for Charity to truly understand how great human love was and to learn that playing with toys was amazing, especially with her new super high energy level. It took another 3 months with veterinarian instructions of a special diet before she stopped vomiting daily and having frequent bouts of diahrea because of her nervous tummy. Diego adjusted easier but just didn't play with toys no matter how much we encourage him.... Well, last night Diego played with a toy for the first time for 5 whole minutes. They have come so far in just 1yr.
Just a year later and you wouldn't believe how far they have come. They are my fur kids. They know what love is, they know what play is, and they are great with my girls.
They have learned so much and know the following words:
They complete our family, and look so healthy and amazing. They each have thier own personality and look so good and healthy. They are now 3 pea's in a pod and are perfect together.
Thank you for giving "us" a chance.
