Dog reunited after 2.5 months

Dayze was rescued just in time.

Here's a heartwarming story about a dog who was missing or over two months.

On Friday, Aug. 6, Officer Misty Binau was called by a City of Omaha employee who was cutting weeds/grass behind a pipeline on the river embankment and “uncovered” a little dog holed up in a little den.

The little female pug mix apparently had gotten out on the embankment and couldn’t find her way back. Misty went out to the area, found the little girl who was uncomfortable with the intrusion, and managed to coax her out.

She was very skinny and really happy to see Misty after her initial fright. Turns out Dayze had been missing since May 30th from the Carter Lake area. She was skinny and very hungry but otherwise ok. That was the first piece of good news.

The best part? Seeing Dayze reunited with her mom Amanda! Congratulations to Dayze and Amanda, and thank you to Officer Binau for the rescue!
