Two weeks ago a raccoon was rescued by an Animal Control Officer in Sarpy County. The raccoon was apparently craving a bit of bird seed, and attempted to pull down a fancy bird feeder.
In the process, he got his front leg entangled in the cord which held the feeder in place. Officers were able to safely remove the raccoon. He suffered an injury to his foot, but is expected to recover nicely. He was taken to Nebraska Wildlife Rehab Inc. for treatment, and upon healing and receiving a clean bill of health, he is expected to be able to be released back into the wild, where hopefully, he will stick to a diet better suited for him.
