Two Cats Rescued

ACOs safely rescue two cats from one of the apartments affected by the Old Market Fire

Cats & Owner Reunited after Old Market Fire

Tuesday, January 12, 2016 | Animal Control

Animal Control Officers Ryan McGlothlin and Martin Jensen rescued two cats from an apartment near 11th/ Howard that was affected by last weekend's fire.

Before entering the building, Officers McGlothlin and Jensen had to be briefed by the Omaha Fire Department on entering the building. The Omaha Fire Department was able to carefully map out which areas were safe for the Officers to walk, and 2 Omaha Fire Fighters assisted the NHS with rescuing the 2 cats and safely removing them.

The cats were then transported to a nearby fire station where they were reunited with their worried owner.

Great Job NHS and also to the Omaha Fire Department for their hard work and ensuring our Officers remained safe during the rescue! The building was not safe to enter until areas of travel could be mapped out. Rescue would not have been possible without this mapping!
