2 Part-time, Customer Service Representatives
Hours:
1st position: Mon. 12 – 7:30 p.m.,
Fri. 3:00 – 7:30 p.m., Sat. 12-4:30 p.m.,
Sun. 11:50 -4:30 p.m.
2nd position: Wed. 3 – 7:30 p.m.,
Thurs. 3 – 7:30 p.m., Fri. 12 – 7:30 p.m.
Sun. 11:50 – 4:30 p.m.
Responsibilities:
-
Greet, assist and direct the public.
- Perform data entry for all Customer Service activities and other departments in the agency.
- Assist customers with/and process adoptions, pet licenses, trap rentals, Rainbow Bridge, monetary and non-monetary donations.
- Register the public for all NHS offered community classes, i.e. dog obedience, Camp Kindness, Club ARF.
- Resolve customer complaints in person and on the phone.
- Intake and process stray and owner surrendered animals that are brought to the shelter.
- Impound animals back to owners who can provide proof of ownership.
- Complete customer Lost and Found reports; walk public through stray kennels to identify pets.
- Represent the NHS in a professional, compassionate manner to the public.
- Perform any and all other duties as may be assigned by the Customer Service Supervisor and Customer Service and Animal Placement Manager.
- Based on departmental needs this position may also be trained for assisting with Opening/Closing duties of the Shelter and the Lost & Found desk.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Computer, filing and general clerical skills.
- Must possess maturity, good judgment and professional manner.
- Pleasant manner in telephone and personal contacts.
- Ability to work with animals without allergic reaction.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to lift 25-50 lbs. and stand/walk for the majority of the shift.
Vet Technician
Hours: Mon.-Wed., 8-1 & Sat. 8-1
Responsibilities:
- Perform primary evaluation of sick and injured animals under the direction of the Veterinarian
- Perform treatments as prescribed by the Veterinarian
- Administer medications as prescribed by the Veterinarian
- Perform surgical preparation of animals for spay and neutering
- Be responsible for the recovery of the surgical animals
- Veterinary record keeping
- Surgeries performed
- Treatments performed
- Assist with medical education of volunteers, staff, and the public
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Operations
Qualifications:
- Affection for animals, concern for their welfare, and a willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace
- Two years practical experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
- Must be computer literate in Microsoft ‘97
- Must be considerate and respectful of all employees, volunteers and customers.
- Must show compassion toward animals.
Physical Requirements:
- Use of all extremities
- Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds
- Good vision for detailed work
- Good coordination
- Ability to use computer
- Ability to work around animals without allergic reactions

Education and License Requirements:

Must have a minimum two year, Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program

Must be a licensed Veterinary Technician
Adoption Coordinator
Shifts: Two part time positions available, hours TBD.
Responsibilities:
- To promote, at all times, the message that the goal of the adoption counselor is to place the right pet into the right home
- Assist with managing adoption kennel inventory
- Counsel potential adopters
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone, website or in person
- Assist with addressing and resolving customer post-adoption concerns
- Perform file checks for cruelty and/or neglect, complaints of potential adopters
- Assist with and support the training of staff and volunteer adoption counselors
- Assist with communication and implementation of adoption policy, guidelines and procedures to staff and volunteers
- Assist with the Adoption area report preparation and distribution requirements
- Transport and/or coordinate the transportation of cats to and from PetSmart locations
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Customer Service and Animal Placement Manager
- Will also, while working at NHS, work at offsite (Petsmart) facility with public (schedule to be determined)

- Must have valid drivers license with acceptable driving record and be able to provide proof of vehicle insurance.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to: drive a vehicle, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, work on a computer, able to work around animals without allergic reaction, have use of all extremities, lift 50 to 100 pounds, and must be able to safely handle dogs and cats.
Retail Store Assistant (part-time)
Department: Gift Shop
Hours: Monday 11:00 a.m. – 7:30/8:00 p.m.
Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Major Responsibilities:
- Place all merchandise orders in a timely fashion to ensure gift shop has adequate inventory.
- Price items competitively.
- Stock merchandise as needed.
- Schedule, plan and perform periodic physical inventory.
- Organize and clean gift shop on a daily basis.
- Ensure merchandise is displayed appropriately.
- Maintain necessary supplies.
- Balance cash drawer and receipts (daily) prior to delivery to Accounting.
- All other duties as assigned by the manager of the department.
- Must enjoy working with the public.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Must have the ability to problem solve.
