The opening reception for the Little Gallery's February showing of "In Come the Animals" is Friday, Feb. 1, from 6:00 to 9:00pm.

During the Reception, all gallery proceeds from sales will benefit the Nebraska Humane Society!

The show is by Artist Bob Matthews who quotes:

"It took me four years to paint like Raphael and a lifetime to paint like a child." What a magnificent quote from Pablo Picasso.
My series of animal paintings represents my ongoing evolution as a painter, and I have never had as much fun. I enjoy color. I enjoy occupying the majority of the picture plane with a solitary object. I enjoy an element of abstraction, and I enjoy the immediate impact on the viewer. In an effort to control the size of the composition, I construct my own supports. I primarily use acrylic paint and occasionally add finishing touches with oil sticks. This is a very satisfying “right” brain journey.

Dr. Mathews, a native of Minneapolis, retired in 2017 after a 37-year career in emergency medicine. He now draws and paints full time from his home studio in Omaha. The artist has participated in 45 group shows, two 2-person shows and 6 solo shows. He is currently represented by The Connect Gallery.
