The Living Picture Project and Nebraska Humane Society team up with another Howling comedy for dog lovers. If you loved last year’s Sylvia, you’ll love Dogs playing poker.
The Living Picture Project will team up again with the Nebraska Humane Society for the Original Script, Dogs Playing Poker, on November 3-6, 10-13, 17,18,20, 25-27. It couldn’t be a more perfect fit for this production. Many people may not realize, but the Nebraska Humane Society has a state of the art auditorium right at the shelter. You may leave this show with the urge to make an adoption…of an animal! Directed by Gordon Krentz, Dogs Playing Poker is a heartwarming comedy inspired by the whimsical paintings of C.M. Coolidge that have been immortalized on everything from playing cards, to t-shirts, to black velvet paintings hanging on barroom walls. It’s a young dog’s “coming of age” story where he must choose between a life of running the streets, chasing cars, and howling at the moon, or a life of domstication wehre he embraces the dog’s virtue of loyalty. The poker games offer a back drop fro the story and the arguments about a dog’s purpose in life. The play was written by Lincoln playwright James Keim and will be produced for the first time by the Living Picture Project. The cast includes Anthony Clark-Kaczmarek, Kim Clark –Kaczmarek, Brandon Higdem, Erin Joekel, Jeremy Stoll, Dan Sullivan, and Joe Wolf. Sponsored by Heartland Financial Services, a portion of the proceeds will benefit animals at the Nebraska Humane Society. The 24th Street Animal Clinic has also sponsored an evening to raise funds for Thanksgiving baskets for 50+ local families. This is the second collaboration of the Living Picture Project and the Nebraska Humane Society. The group performed the hilarious and touching comedy Sylvia to sold out audiences last November. Tickets are $15 for General admission and $10 for students and seniors. Bring a blanket for donation and receive $5 off general admission price. Performances begin at 7:30 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays are matinees beginning at 2:00 pm. For questions about the play, tickets or the Living Picture Project call 556-5616. |
