FETCH
(Friends Educating and Training Canines for Homes)

Too many dogs are surrendered to the Nebraska Humane society because of behavioral problems.  While basic obedience classes will often go a long way to fix the problem, those take time that our staff just doesn’t have.  Enter our local dog trainers to save the day (and the dogs!)  Project FETCH brings in volunteer dog trainers to spend time with our special cases.  These sessions give the trainers extra experience working with different dogs and a chance to keep their teaching skills fresh.

What it does for the dogs is priceless.

It gives them chance to work their brains, learn new commands, and become much more easy to handle. Let’s face it—a dog that will sit on command, walk nicely on a leash, and not jump on company is a dog that will get into a new home much more quickly.  Because our FETCH volunteers spend more time teaching these dogs, the dogs are spending less time in our kennels before finding loving homes.
