Finn is settled in

From the first night he found his spot to snuggle into on the bed I could tell he had found his forever home

We had been stalking the NHS site for months looking for the perfect addition to our family. I'd come in a couple of times but just didn't feel that attachment to anyone so I always left dog-less.

I first noticed 'Ryder' on the NHS website on a Monday night. I came in early the next day to meet him. As I was waiting for adoption time to start they had to break the news to me that he was on hold until 4 pm that evening. I was very disappointed because there was just something about that dog that was reaching out to me. I went home and figured the search continues. Later that night I noticed he was still showing up on the site and thought if he's still there in the morning I'm going in again, sure enough he was so off to the humane society I went.

We adopted Finnley (formerly known as Ryder) a little over 2 weeks ago from NHS. We were prepared to have a bit of a challenge while he got use to his new home but were pleasantly surprised from the minute he came through the door. It was reported that Finn had some fear issues so we were told it may take some time for him to adjust. He came in the door and made himself right at home. Also to my surprise he introduced himself to our resident dogs right away. Our Lab loved him instantly and our rat terrier basically hated his very existence. She has since come around and has decided he can stay.
Our girls were accustomed to sleeping in the sun the majority of the day. Finn loves to play so he's defiantly shaken up the routine around here. He's potty trained, goes right into his kennel and listens better than the other two. He barks a bit when people come to meet him but warms up after just a few minutes. He's settled in and seems like he's always been here.

From the first night he found his spot to snuggle into on the bed I could tell he had found his forever home. I know he was meant to be here and I'm thankful for the Nebraska Humane Society for taking such good care of him while he waited for us.
