The Cat Who Adopted Us

The center of our apartment

As recent college grads, we had been without cats for a number of years and were set to finally correct that. Each and every day, as we made ready to move to Lincoln and into our pet-allowed apartment, we checked adoption sites to see what kinds of cats we could get. Multiple times we fell in love with a cat, only to have them be adopted away before we even made the move. Finally, we moved and with our eyes on a cat. After a few days to settle in, we were primed to go get a cat, but that morning the cutie our choice was gone, yet again. We went anyway, to see if a new cat would grab our attention. We looked at cats, then agreed to meet with some.

After meeting a few choice felines we were sure we liked one enough to take them home, but before we formally decided our adoption agent offered to show us another cat, one she thought we'd like. She brought in "Day," a flame point siamese mix of four years, who proceeded to steal us away from any other prospective adoptees. She climbed straight into our laps and rubbed all over us, she was immediately friendly and trusting. We couldn't believe how friendly she was, neither of us had ever met such a bold, outgoing cat. We took her home to Lincoln soon after and let her loose in her new home, where she took all of about ten minutes to acclimate to being comfortable and explore the whole apartment. Meeting our family, she was no less friendly than she had been with us, and confidently went to these unfamiliar people for pets and scratches. She's enjoying herself well, and follows us around like a dog, always eager to be where the people are. We also discovered as she became more comfortable that she's very vocal, and will meow her raspy little siamese meows in hello, while being petted, and often in response to being spoken to. She's rather become the center of our apartment.
