Dozer Dog

After finally convincing my husband that we NEEDED a dog, we found more than just that with our Dozer

It took years of whining, bribing and bargaining with my husband to convince him that I would be the happiest woman in the world if I could just have a dog. We had gone to the Humane Society several times and sat with many dogs, but none of them ever "clicked" like we thought "our" dog would. Finally, on a very cold day in December 2013, my husband and I went back "just to look" since our daughter was still in school. I've always been partial to bully breeds and my husband wanted a lab. We walked around the entire kennel but finally came back to one of the first dogs we laid eyes on that day. Dozer (named Blitzen at the time) was a 14-week-old lab/pit bull mix. He had a big head, doofy smile and ginormous paws! I was in love, my husband won't admit it, but I think he was too.

We asked to meet him in an adoption room and from the moment he was brought in, we were done for. He climbed right into our laps (at only 30 pounds) and wanted nothing, but cuddles. We found out he was a stray found only days before, during the "polar vortex." I was heartbroken thinking of him out in the bitter cold all alone. I knew I didn't want to risk losing him so we took him home that very day. When we picked our daughter up from school, she was immediately enamored. We loved him them and 8 months later, we still love him just the same. He is big, strong boy who of course thinks he's a lap dog. He wants only to give kisses and be touched by anyone who will give him the time of day. He now sleeps with our 7-year-old daughter every night because he needs to snuggle and she no longer wakes up with "bad dreams" like she used to. He is perfect for us and I couldn't imagine a better "smile" to come home to every day!
