14-week-old Eagle provides new life and infuses play with our 5 year old and our 11 year old

We have an 11 year old, Elliot, that I adopted from NHS in 2003. He was estimated to be 6 weeks old at the time. He came in to my home as the only kitty so he became spoiled. Earlier this year, we combined homes and therefore combined kitties. So Elliot was joined by Bogey, a 5-year-old longhaired talkative kitty. Elliot and Bogey had their moments at first and became very tolerable of each other, almost chummy.

Then about two months ago, Elliot had a stroke. He is now blind in his right eye and much like a person with a stroke, has trouble with his mobility getting going with his right side impaired. Bogey needed him to play more and be more active with him and Elliot just could not any longer. Bogey began to talk to anyone he would hear in the hallway. We decided to adopt a new kitty, a girl, to add to our mix. On Tuesday, September 9th, we walked in to NHS and immediately my boyfriend said he wanted to see Gracelyn, Eagle's name at NHS.

When the volunteer brought her in the room, we were both committed and she won our hearts. Since that time, she has acclimated amazingly in to our family. She keeps Bogey on his toes and keeps him active so he does not feel the need to chat with everyone in the building. Even our old man, Elliot, has warmed up to her and allows her to hang out near him every once in a while. We are so greatful to have her in our family and would not have changed anything for the world.
