Our shy Dakota has come so far!

Thank you NHS for taking in the unknowns like our Dakota

We adopted Dakota from NHS 3 years ago after our first dog passed and we knew we couldn't be without a dog for long. When I saw Dakota, he was so sad. His head was always down. When we got him home, we realized that even though his age was estimated at 5 years, he had no idea how to play or what toys even were. He was so skinny that you could see his ribcage. Our family of 6 loved him up good, but what helped a lot was adopting a puppy sister for him, Daphne. She taught him how to play and gave him some spunk. He runs and plays with her, they wrestle, and he makes sure she isn't doing something she isn't supposed to be. We fattened him up and we love him more than anything, but Daphne keeps him young and gives him playfulness he would not have otherwise found. We are so happy to have them both! Daphne is not from NHS, but we still think they were meant to be together. :) Thank you NHS for taking in the unknowns like our Dakota. And families out there: don't be afraid to adopt an older dog. They need our love and care more than they are able to tell us, and we can help them so much, but not as much as they can help us. We love our fur abies. Oh, and as you can see from our pics, Dakota is even a Husker fan!
