BEHAVIOR HELPLINE
Behavior problems are the number one reason people across the country
give up their pets. At the Nebraska Humane Society we are committed
to keeping companion animals with loving owners by working to correct
behavior problems before they get out of hand. If you need advice, whether
it’s a cat that won’t use the litter box or a dog that digs,
our behavior specialists at the Behavior Helpline are on call for you!
- Call 444-7800 extension 221
- Leave your name and address and a brief description of the problem
- Our behavior staff will immediately mail you a packet of information
with tips on how to deal with the problem
- A behavior specialist will return your call to discuss specific
details of what might be causing the behavior you’re trying
to correct. She will then make recommendations on correcting the problem
and a follow-up check.
OR
- Email bhelp@nehumanesociety.org. Please put “Behavior Helpline” as your subject line and detail your pet’s problem behavior. Include a phone number so our behaviorists can call and speak directly to you.
- To get a jump on help you can click on the bar at the left of your screen that says “behavior problems” and look for articles that address your pets’ problem.
Private Consultations
Your dog is a happy boy off leash, but put him on a leash and he turns
into the AGRESSOR, snapping and snarling at everyone he meets. His aggression
is getting so bad you’re uncomfortable taking him for walks in
the park. What’s causing this and how can you get it to stop?
Leash aggression is the number one problem our behaviorists deal with.
But it’s not the only problem. If your pet has a problem you can’t
deal with, call us! Our trained behaviorists are ready to help you get
to the root of the problem and work through it.
- Call the behavior helpline at 444-7800 ext. 221
- Leave your name and number and a brief synopsis of the problem
- We’ll send you information
- A specialist will return your call to hear specifics of the problem and advise you
- If we can’t work through your problem over the phone, the behavior specialist may suggest a private consultation to work with you and your pet to correct the problem behavior.
Don’t let your pet’s behavior drive you crazy or you’ll
drive him to us!
Call our behavior department instead!
