Internship Opportunities

We are seeking motivated and compassionate people with a passion for animal welfare.

About Our Internship Program

The Nebraska Humane Society has a wonderful training opportunity in the form of an internship program. The program touches on various points of interest in the shelter, including Adoptions, Animal Care, Animal Medical and Behavior.

The internship is an unpaid opportunity for students who are currently over the age of 19 years, and enrolled in an academic program at a college or university. Due to the nature of the program, we ask that students commit to at least 10 hours of service per week for three months. Opportunities are available year round.

Each opportunity allows for students to explore areas of personal interest, while gaining real-world career skills. Each unique internship opportunity at the shelter is designed to enhance the ability to work with animals.

What we need from you

  • A cover letter explaining credentials and career goals
  • At least two references
