Legend has it that when a beloved pet dies he goes to a place of beauty Over the Rainbow Bridge. We understand how unforgettable and unique each pet is. With that in mind, the Nebraska Humane Society offers Rainbow Bridge private pet cremations. We treat your pets with the utmost respect because that’s the way we want our pets treated. Rainbow Bridge proceeds stay right here at the shelter, so as you take care of your pet you are also taking care of homeless animals who need medical treatments, TLC and safe haven. We can think of no better tribute for a beloved companion!

*Rainbow Bridge does not include a owner-present euthanasia service for pet owners. The Nebraska Humane Society does perform euthanasia for any animal surrendered to us, who comes through our doors beyond our help. But we don't have the resources to provide private euthanasia, with owners present. We know the shelter is a busy, stressful place, and we believe a pet's final experience should be as peaceful as possible. With that in mind, we encourage all pet owners to work with their veterinarian on euthanasia decisions. Your vet knows your pet's medical history and current situation, and can help you decide the best course to take. Your veterinarian can also provide a private, calm place for you to be with your pet. Some offer mobile services that can provide in-home euthanasia. If you cannot afford the cost of euthanasia, the shelter can and will euthanize to end a pet's suffering, but we don't have the facility for you to be present.
Once cremation is complete, the ash is hand collected and placed in a container of your choice. Learn more and choose a package.
