Training Classes are an investment of both time and money; however, the return on that investment can be life changing for you and your companion. Learning to train your pet is fun and doesn't require any specialized experience. Instructors will assist in building a strong bond with your companion by improving communication, understanding and teaching how to set appropriate boundaries. You and your companion will benefit from clear leadership, exercise, training and play. The result will be a well-mannered family member that is happy and a joy to live with.
Drop-in classes provide busy families and individuals that need flexibility in scheduling and/or some guided assistance with one or two particular behaviors. Whether you just have a couple questions or concerns that could be addressed in one class or you don't have time to commit to a 6-week course, this class will provide valuable opportunities to train and bond with your dog.

Schedule: Drop-in classes are TUESDAYS from 5:30-6:30 p.m and are held in the Center for Humane Services (CHS).

Please pay online or at the Customer Service Counter in the main building of the Nebraska Humane Society.
Your puppy will learn name recognition, recalls, sit/down, stay, stand, leave-it, walking on a loose leash and much more. Handlers will understand proper reinforcement for positive behaviors and receive assistance on typical problems encountered during this early canine developmental stage. There will also be a concentration on proper socialization.
This class is for all puppies between the ages of 3 and 6 months old. (If the puppy will turn 7 months old before the fourth week of class, they need to go to a puppy skills class.) All dogs must have the first two rounds of puppy immunizations to come to class.

There will also be a concentration on proper socialization.
This class is for any puppy who has had the first 2 rounds of puppy vaccinations, including rabies.

Adult Skills is a basic training class is ideal for any dog over the age of 18 months that has never taken a training class. Dogs must not be aggressive. Dogs will learn name recognition, recalls, sit/down, stay, stand, leave-it, walking on a loose leash and much more. Handlers will understand proper reinforcement for positive behaviors and receive assistance on typical problems encountered during an adult dog's life. There will also be a concentration on proper socialization.
Dogs must have their first two rounds of immunizations, including rabies, to come to class.

Puppy Skills - Offsite (4 Weeks)
The Pet Clinic is not on the NHS campus. The veterinary clinic graciously offers us space to conduct off-site training classes. Thank you, Pet Clinic! The Pet Clinic is located at 2509 S 140th Circle in Omaha.
Your puppy will learn name recognition, recalls, sit/down, stay, stand, leave-it, walking on a loose leash and much more. Handlers will understand proper reinforcement for positive behaviors and receive assistance on typical problems encountered during this early canine developmental stage. There will also be a concentration on proper socialization.
All puppies between the 3 and 6 months old can take this class. (If the puppy will turn 7 months old before the fourth week of class, they need to go to a puppy skills class.)
All dogs must have the first two rounds of puppy immunizations and the rabies vaccine when appropriate to come to class.
