Beyond the Basics Training Classes are interactive classes that incorporate fun and positive training techniques into everyday living to enhance your family's relationship with your canine companion.
Prerequisites: Puppy or Adult Skills Class (through NHS) or instructor permission (call: 402-444-7800 ext. 2272).

All proceeds from our training classes go directly back to helping animals in need at the Nebraska Humane Society.
You and your dog will learn how to walk nicely together in familiar and unfamiliar places reliably. Positive training tools and methods will be discussed and demonstrated. A great and reliable recall is an especially important skill for a dog to have. This class will give you different ways to attain nice walking and a good recall.

Home Companion class will provide participants with opportunities to review and strengthen basic skills such as sit, down, stay/wait, recalls, and loose leash walking. This class provides additional experience and training for situations that occur in the home like greeting company, self-control, and how to make mealtime more pleasant. We will accomplish the behaviors we want using fun tricks.

Looking for a way to practice basic skills, improve communication, build confidence and strengthen your relationship with your dog? Learning the game of Treibball and teaching obstacles may be for you. Your dog will learn how to go through tunnels, over jumps and walk planks. Treibball is a dog sport in which the dog is sent out to retrieve large balls by “pushing” them back to the handler. Skills like recalls, stays, focus, around distractions, and directional work are all part of these fun games.

We would all like to have a well-mannered canine companion in public situations. If you want to go around town with your dog and have the confidence to manage public situations, this class is for you.
Out on the Town class is specifically designed to review skills such as loose leash walking, greeting strangers, and passing other dogs, outside of the classroom setting. There will be outings to areas within the Greater Omaha area where dogs and handlers will gain confidence, experience, and trust.

Games class will teach you new and different games to play with your dog at home using things you already have at home. Participants will practice their basic skills in new fun ways that will help build better communication and relationship skills.
