Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend Bone Jour? Any dog at least 3 months of age with current booster shots for rabies and distemper, plus a current kennel cough vaccination. (Kennel cough must be administered 10 days prior to first visit at Bone Jour.) Any dog over 7 months must be spayed or neutered. You must have had your dog for at least 30 days.
My dog needs medication during the day, will you give it to him? No problem, we will give your dog any medication he or she needs at the time you specify to administer it.
What if my little dog is scared of big dogs? We segregate our dog groups by size and temperament, so as a rule, little dogs play together and big dogs play together. All groups have indoor and outdoor play yards complete with potty areas, shade areas for lounging, and when summer arrives we provide refreshing wading pools too.
Can my dog attend daycare for socialization if he doesn’t like other dogs? Because dog daycare involves constant dog-to-dog contact, it is really intended for canines who are already comfortable meeting other dogs. You might want to start working with your pooch in a structured setting with other dogs, under the guidance of an instructor, so your dog can gain skills and confidence. NHS offers many training and activity classes that can help. Click here for details.
Who runs Bone Jour? Bone Jour is owned and operated by the Nebraska Humane Society. Staffers are employed by NHS and follow the NHS mission. You can feel good about your dog’s care because all revenues from Bone Jour go to help homeless animals -- so as you provide for your pet you also provide for shelter pets.
Who will be overseeing my dog? Our animal loving staff members! On average, each staffer has over 5 years of dog handling experience and actively participates in dog behavior training. Bone Jour provides the best dog-to-staff ratio in the metro with 1 staff member for every 12 dogs, plus additional volunteers. Bone Jour dogs are never left unattended during group play and they nap in private cabins with beds, not in crates.
How do I know my dog is enjoying Bone Jour? We give daily report cards on your dog’s day so you’ll know who his best buddy is and which toys he most enjoyed in his cabin.
