Adoption Process The Nebraska Humane Society offers a variety of pets available for adoption everyday. Due to the volume of adoptions we do, we cannot guarantee an animal you see online will be available when you reach the shelter; however, our inventory is updated hourly.
Due to the high adoption rate at the shelter our staff is unable to answer emails or phone inquiries about specific animals pictured on the website. Please come to the shelter to meet the pets in person.
You must be at least 19 years old to adopt an animal from the Nebraska Humane Society.
You must bring a valid ID
When you come to the Shelter fill out the adoption survey and hand it to a person behind customer service.
You will then receive a Guest Pass based on your survey color as well as a pager.
Once you pager vibrates you'll be able to meet your potential matches!
Be prepared to spend some time at the shelter. The adoption process can take an hour or longer, and you may have to wait to see a counselor. Try to come during the week, early in the day!
Don't see an animal you like? Check back often- we have different animals available for adoption EVERYDAY!
