Turkey Burglar Apprehended

Wednesday, April 13, 2016 | NHS Staff

A turkey decided to break into a northwest Omaha home earlier this month. Nothing was stolen, but she managed to shatter a large picture window and left a trail of destruction through the house before animal control officers were able to capture her safely. She escaped major injuries, but was sent to Nebraska Wildlife Rehab for monitoring due to some minor cuts and scrapes. It is believed the entry occurred due to her reflection in the window starting a dispute with her, and she wasn’t having it…

This week in National Animal Control Appreciation Week! In 2015, Animal Control responded to 6,387 calls of live wildlife either trapped, confined, injured or stuck with August being the highest month of 948 calls! Also in 2015, ACOs responded to 40,069 dispatched calls, which averages out to be 3,339 calls a month!
